Brief Details of IELTS Exam

IELTS is the acronym for International English Language Testing System. This exam is necessary for all people who willing to study, work in a place where English language is essential. Only after passing in this exam, you will be allowed to work or study abroad. This exam will measure the capacity and skills of an individual. For the well prepared and fluent person, this test is very easier for him to pass.

Basics of IELTS

IELTS generally has two types of exams. Everyone will attend the same listening and speaking exams but the modules for every grade will be different.

  1. General training – This exam is for those who are going for work, training and secondary education.
  2. Academic – This exam is for higher and further education.

Structure of IELTS exam

IELTS exam has very well organized structure. The exam is divided into 4 parts and each part must be done within the specific time.

1. Listening: 30 minutes

In the part of listening, you will be hearing a conversation. Related to the conversation, you need to answer some questions. Also, you need to attend the true or false statements for the conversation. All you have to do in this part is to listen the conversation done by two or more people and get the main theme of the conversation.

2. Reading: 60 minutes

In the reading part, you will be reading three paragraphs of text. Then you must answer for 40 questions. Read the paragraph one or two times slowly and fetch the meaning and main points from them. This will help you to answer all the questions without any difficulty.

3. Writing: 60 minutes

In this part, you will be getting a topic and asked to write an article, formal letter or any kind of texts. You have to develop the topic into the given text by giving your thoughts using suitable sentences and grammar.

4. Speaking: 11-14 minutes

Mostly the speaking part of the exam will be done on a different day based on the schedule of your examination. The examiner will start asking some questions and asked you to talk about any particular field. You must speak the topic with the good vocabulary in a given time without any long breaks.
